Bosch’s venture capital company has taken a stake in the software company DeepMap, based in Palo Alto, California. DeepMap focuses on mapping services for self-driving cars with three-dimensional machine-readable maps. DeepMap’s software evaluates data from sensors on board self-driving vehicles and combines it with data from all vehicles connected to its system.

Bosch’s involvement is another example of the rapidly increasing value share held by software in the automotive industry, and the need for global investments to safeguard innovative capacity.
